I remember when they had a Ferris wheel there and me and my cousins would ride it

I went to Southridge when I was a 2 year old toddler I went back in July 2020 I now live near the mall in Greenfield just 2 1/2 blocks away

Woman's Workout World was in there. I'd go there all the time. Boutique Unique and there was a bridal store there too at the time.

Lived near there in the 60s and 70s. My dentist was in the professional building. Used to shop at Albert K, Jackie's Circle, Woolworth, before it was enclosed. Also went to the Mill Run theater for live performances.

Lowkey I was homeless back in the winter in 2020 and this place provided me a hiding spot INSIDE and a warm nights sleep, thanks.

COVID 19 was no accident that was done on purpose to shut the world the hospitals I was told where empty and health care workers where dancing on the internet for brownie points I had the virus and didn’t need a test to know I had it but big box stores can be open during the 3 months it was closed because the CEOs and elites billionaires can cash in their chips

UPM and the retail on both grape rd and main st is the only shopping north of Indy. It’s there or online sites

The Oakbrook and River Oaks malls started out the same, as opened air malls. River Oaks Mall was converted to a closed mall in the 90’s, and lost it’s charm. River Oaks Mall is barely hanging on, with many stores closed.

I grew up near there and went to the cinema and shops there -- The Limited was there! it was pretty awesome. We used to buy tickets, hang out till the show started, or got something to eat in the neighborhood. Those were pretty wonderful times.

Today I visited the mall 4 days ago and it really dead it like only 10 or 9 stores left inside. Idr

Great work on the Video and videos in general. Beautiful Mall, Im Sorry to see it go, And while I never shopped here, but wish I did, or wish I got to at least stroll thru before Closing. 😥 My sympathies to All whom Shopped here and Loved shopping here.

Too bad in 2024, Hawthorn is an overall dead mall now, but Mellody Farm is thriving.

What did new owners do 30 yrs ago? Ran us out sad. We would all have stayed. I still talk to previous(contract store) owners. Many! They ran us out. Here is the true story!

We had a a store there (kiosk) Levi store.new owners 30 yrs ago ran us out w/ unbelievable prices. So we couldn't survive.. stores were leaving in the middle of nite. They didn't bring anything to help but took and took. It was sooo wrong. So u all know the truth now. We all had no choice but to leave. It could have worked. Bad management company

I walked thru Carson’s as it was reducing product and could see the sad faces of employees who had worked there for years. My heart went out to them. I’ve worked at places twice as they were closing. My skill level a,wats kept me employed but the best job I ever enjoyed most was from 1999-2005 . Seeing it close devastated me. Tho getting a new higher paying job right away, even the money didn’t make me enjoy it as much as the store I left.

All these malls closing are leaving our young people more isolated and going into depression and this ungodly world continues its downward spiral.

At one time so busy it had two Gloria Jeans in different location. Was there last in 2019 to see “ John Wick 3”, then Covid set in and destroyed so many businesses and jobs. Shame of that quack Fauci !

Never felt claustrophobic eating in eatery

I loved this mall. Took my little son there after from oak lawn cause he liked to ride the elevators. I always saw it busy from 1994 when I first started going there til 2004 , after that I saw the decline start when Montgomery wards store. Loved the theaters, a great eatery featuring Schoops hamburgers .

This was my neighborhood mall and for my Jr. High self in the early 80s it rocked! Montgomery Ward’s for vinyl records, Walgreen’s and it’s restaurant next door for the best onion rings, Stuart’s for the latest 80s fashions, Aladdin’s Castle for Ms. Pac Man and Donkey Kong, and of course the movie theater. We could walk there and be totally independent from our parents. Damn! I miss those days.

This mall has been in hospice since 2001 when I moved to Texas. I moved back in 2009 and its just sad now. They should've opened that movie theater that was always rumored. This mall is largely being put out thanks to Walmart up the street.

I used to work at Northbrook Court after high school. My girlfriend worked at Lord and Taylor. Both stores I worked at are long gone now.

I like the old layout from when I was a kid and Wards was the anchor store where Nordstom is now.

I remember me and my mom went the first weekend they opened. It was intense. They literally had EVERYTHING. It also seemed endless.

This place was never an anticipated stop while growing up. It always looked dated and dead.

Actually the mall is in Bradley; their mail is delivered by the Bourbonnais post office as it is a much bigger facility. You note near the end of the video that the Village of Bradley spent $15,000 on consulting for redevelopment. Bradley has actually purchased two of the empty anchor store buildings.

what's sad is that this place has been completely destroyed on the inside head to toe and there's mold everywhere so for anyone trying to go there now bring masks and be careful
